The Vivarini Triptych
Kept inside the church, the Vivarini Triptych, there
appears of a very pure beauty: the colors have tones of old
velvets, golds have a pallor that makes them expressive with notes
deep and harmonious. The altarpiece (m.2.10 x 1.70) has three
rectangular panels. The central one (1.35 x 0.58 m) represents
the Madonna seated on a throne, on a gold background; the mantle
blue covers with a nice fold the figure dressed in red, the
child also has a purple dress, which soberly
covers, while his hand is in the hand of his Mother,
approaching the mouth of the other, with a graceful gesture.
very natural. The panel to the right of the Virgin depicts "San
Giorgio "(1.25 x 0.40 m), a beautiful figure that recalls the
famous San Giorgio del Bellini. The other panel, symmetrical, a
left, has a full figure of St. Augustine, solemn with the
his bishop and a book. At the foot of the Virgin the signature of
painter is authentic.
